FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SUGGESTED LISTING: tours, museums, things to do. Special evening tour explores life before the electric light at Gore Place this December.( WALTHAM , MA ) What was it like to live before the electric light with only candles and oil lamps to light your way? On Friday, February 10 at 7:30pm, Gore Place, the historic Governor Gore estate in Waltham, will offer a Full Moon Tours entitled Living in the Dark which will explore just that question. The lives of pre-Industrial
Age people were dictated by
the natural rhythms of day
and night. The darkness brought
shutting time when most folks
closed their shutters and stayed
in for the night. The light
of a full moon would allow
work to continue, sometimes
until dawn. For this special
evening tour, visitors will
join a guide in period costume
and hear tales of life lived
by candle and lamp light while
they explore the beautiful
1806 Gore mansion. Friday,
February 10. The tour begins
at 7:30pm. Doors open at 7pm.
Admission is $14, $10 children
5 to 12. Capacity is limited.
