Gore Place to Host 23rd Annual
Sheepshearing Festival

(WALTHAM, MA, MARCH 10, 2010) Gore Place, the historic Governor Gore estate in Waltham, Massachusetts, will present The Sheepshearing Festival on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10am to 5pm (rain or shine). 2010 will mark the 23rd year for this popular event. Over the years, the festival has become a tradition for many. Last years event saw an attendance of 10,000 including nearly 4,000 children.
 
Visitors to the festival will enjoy demonstrations of sheep shearing, herding dogs, displays of fiber arts and a large crafts fair. In addition, there will be live music, traditional English dancing, an historic military encampment, historic crafters, gardening activities with the Waltham Garden Club, kilt-making demonstrations by North Channel Kilts from Seattle Washington, a bagpipe and drum band and Scottish Lore with the Bell Family. For a small additional charge, visitors may take a ground-floor tour of the mansion and a wagon ride. There will be food vendors on site. Parking is free. No dogs or other pets allowed. Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 and under and Gore Place members admitted free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
