FARM FESTIVAL for the WHOLE FAMILY!

Taking place over several acres of the governor Gore estate, the annual Sheepshearing Festival has long been a New England tradition. There will be all sorts of activities and demonstrations to enjoy, lively music, dancers, performers, historic recreators, farm animals, wagon rides, magic shows and a large crafts fair. There will be plenty of food vendors onsite as well.

And, best of all, admission is free for children 12 & under. Parking is also free.

take exit 17 to Watertown Square. Turn left onto Route 20 (Main Street). Travel 1~1/4 miles to Gore Street. From Route 128/I-95 exit 26 to Route 20 east (Main Street) 3~1/2 miles to Gore Street. See map.

In the shearing tents, shearers Andy Rice and Kevin Ford demonstrate both modern and traditional shearing techniques.

Dave Kennard and his herding dogs give demonstrations of how a shepherd and his dogs control and move a flock of sheep.

The crafts fair offers hand-crafted goods for sale by some of the regions finest crafters.

In addition, visitors can see a demonstrations by spinners, weavers and other fiber artists.

Pine Hill Ramblers

Live music with the Pine Hill Ramblers, the Moody Street String Band.

 

wagon ride

Tractor-drawn wagon rides*, sponsored by RTN Federal Credit Union circle the RTN logofarm fields. The groundfloor of the mansion is available for a self-guided house tour*. *additional charge.

Waltham Garden Club

The Waltham Garden Club offers gardening activities for children and adults.

MA Regiment

Members of Colonel Bailey's 2nd Massachusetts Regiment reenactors will recreate an 18th century militia encampment, perform drills and fire their muskets. Sponsored by DCU, Digital Federal Credit Union.

Dean Rantz blacksmith

Historic crafters demonstrate basket-weaving and blacksmithing.
