Take a Walk Backpacks

Currently, the Take A Walk activity is spring related. Explore the open spaces and hidden places on 48 acres of land. Children and their accompanying adults can rent activity backpacks and take a self-guided tour of the farm and grounds. Each backpack contains binoculars, a magnifying glass, and seasonal activities appropriate for children ages 3-8. Special backpack topics, such as Archaeology, Raised Garden Beds, and a Math challenge pack, are also available for elementary school-aged children. One-hour backpack rental, $5. Free parking. Just ring the bell at the Mansion to get your backpack and begin your adventure!

When the grounds are snow-covered, children's and adults' snowshoes are available. Snowshoe rental is $5 per pair.

Saturdays from 12 to 3pm (must reserve by 2pm on Sat.)

Announcing our new “Take a Walk” backpack!
Five raised garden beds were constructed in the spring and have been growing various herbs, vegetables, and flowers. We created a new backpack about the raised beds to complement the gardening and farming on the grounds. It is suitable for children ages 6 to 11 and costs the same as the regular backpack program ($5). The backpacks are available starting immediately. Come and explore what's growing at Gore Place.
